Where to start?Bought this after my Schwinn meridian was done.Hard to find adult trikes in local bike shops under $500 or so.Didn’t want to spend that much as I don’t ride a lot,and seeing my husband has fixed and maintained our bikes for years(he has a hybrid ) decided to order online, knowing there would probably be hiccups here and there. The bike showed up on expected date, boxes were not damaged. The bIke and parts were packed well for the most part.Instructions okay but definitely need you tube tutorial.1st hiccup-the little part that links the chain together wrong size.So off to the local bike shop,$3 that’s ok.Moving along, get to the seat-seating bolt stripped so off to the store $4.Still okay but annoying.Brakes, tires handlebars all installed smoothly.Get to the derailer-2 hours in and the husband says off to the bike shop.$22 to get that right, the technician there did say it was “fussy”.Finally!!!Get to ride the trike! Now for the bike itself- you get what you pay for.Iy rides fairly smoothly. The shifting is good. The brakes are a little grabby but do not stick, probably need a little fine tuning. The pedals themselves are closer to under the seat than my other trike,so the legs are getting a different workout. But that’s a good thing. The seat isn’t great but most bikes come with substandard ones anyways. This is light for a trike so it maneuvers easily but that being said extra care needed on bumpy or uneven roads. As for the bike’s cosmetics-the paint job is a bit sloppy,a lot of drips here and there. The color is vibrant but the paint is a matte finish so will scratch easily. The fenders came a little bent, while they don’t rub the tires I still need to tweak. The tires themselves seem good, they are holding air after my bumpy rides. The snaps to hold on the wheel reflectors broke so that’s another trip to the store. The basket is okay but probably not suitable for a heavy load. When putting together the metal tabs where a pain so I used zip ties.Easier and the sides are tight.Forget the bottle cage, didn’t fit.I put the bell on,it’s ok but I will get a louder one.I like the height and profile of the bike,it will work for me but if I would have foreseen all the little hiccups I probably would have shopped a little more and spent a little more. It’s not a bad bike but it’s not a great one either.Arrived on time. Pretty well boxed up and only one screw was improperly installed without a usable head, so I cut a new head on it. I have been riding and repairing bikes for many years, and I built this bike for my wife's birthday. I used my own tools and didn't touch the supplied tools. It took me about 8 -10 hours to assemble and adjust a few things that almost fit but needed a little more persuasion. I had to figure out the shifter and brake cable routing and I had some difficulty attaching the cheap chain master link. The axle shaft and bearings were assembled too tight at the factory, so I had to dissemble, lubricate, and loosen the entire axle shaft, bearings and drive gear before the wheels would turn freely. The welding on the bike frame appeared to be done by an amateur in a hurry. The welds appeared sturdy enough but were pretty lumpy (see photos). My wife who knows nothing about welding even commented that the welding did not look even, smooth, or professional . The paint looked pretty good and it is a nice looking trike. The instructions were OK but left out a lot of vital information, like how to adjust the derailleur and brakes, which is complicated and probably impossible if you have never done it before or never watched a YouTube derailleur video. I could only get 6 gears out of the 7 gears to engage. Right now my wife uses only the low gear, so I will probably never need to get the last high gear to engage. I strongly recommend that anyone without bike or mechanical assembly experience, or without a good set of tools should attempt to assemble this bike. Get someone who knows what they are doing assemble this bike for you. When I filled up the front tire the bead sheared off the tire and tube exploded. I never had that happen before. This was the last step in the assembly process, so the bike sat for 2 weeks and after my wife's birthday before Mooncool first shipped me the wrong size tire and then reshipped me one a little smaller than the other 2 tires, even though I specifically provided the actual tire size. So now I have one smaller tire in front and 2 larger tires in the rear. Looks a little like a hot rod. There was no charge for the tires and tubes. I got much better customer service when I used Amazon online to get in touch with with the vendor, Mooncool. I didn't get a response when I emailed their website. The fenders are really thin aluminum and arrived with a few dings, I asked for a replacement, at first they didn't reply, so I asked again. Their reply was to send them photos, which I never got around to sending. My wife and I are not happy about the dings on her new birthday present. I even considered returning it for this reason. Its a pretty nice looking bike and just sturdy enough for grandma to get a little exercise while slowly cruising around the neighborhood or going to the market. She likes the exercise and the grand kids like to sit in the basket while grandma pedals.
